In Italian, “Mille Miglia” simply means “one thousand miles.” But for every Ferrari fan, these two words mean much more \u2013 it is a legendary rally, it is incredible victories for cars from Maranello, it is unforgettable performances by Nuvolari. And today, it is a chance to experience a real adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of the rally dates back to 1927. Over the years, its formula has been modified, and after the tragic events of 1957, it was not held for 20 years. In the 1970s, it was revived as a regularity rally for vintage cars and is still held in this form today. The event is open to cars whose counterparts participated in the original version of the rally between 1927 and 1957. However, in addition to the main competition, there are also side events \u2013 one of them is Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia, in which only Maranello cars are classified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the name suggests, the rally route covers 1,000 miles, or about 1,600 km. The loop starts in Brescia and runs along scenic roads of Lombardy and Tuscany, also passing Rome along the way. Whether you start with a vintage Lancia from 1927 or a modern Ferrari \u2013 what matters is the reliability of the car and the discipline and organisation of the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each day consists of several hundred kilometres of driving along the route marked out by the organiser and reaching points. The competition begins early in the morning and ends late in the evening \u2013 not because of slow driving, as this rally gives you the opportunity to test your car almost as if on a racetrack. A lot of time each day is devoted to performing tasks outlined in the route books. A separate, thick road book is prepared for each day, which requires constant work from the driver and navigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
